Psychological Science to Reduce and Prevent Health Disparities Translational Issues in Psychological Science
Due: Oct. 1, 2018
For this issue, the editors will consider manuscripts across a broad area of psychological research on reducing and preventing health disparities, including such topics as psychological interventions to prevent health disparities and to reduce health disparities, particularly those that target minorities, the poor, or the underserved.
Professional Psychology Special Issues Psychological Practice in Substance Use Disorders and Addictions
Due: Nov. 1, 2018 Professional Psychology: Research and Practice (PPRP) and Training and Education in Professional Psychology (TEPP) have planned coordinated special issues on practice (PPRP) and education and training (TEPP) in substance use disorders and addictions. PPRP seeks manuscripts focusing on psychological approaches to the prevention, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of substance use disorders and addictions, as well as professional practice issues encountered in this work. Manuscripts more focused on training and educating psychologists for substance use disorders and addictions work should be forwarded to TEPP.
General Call for Papers: Ongoing Submissions Spirituality in Clinical Practice
The journal seeks submissions on innovative research focused on spirituality, health, and clinical treatment with an eye toward global outreach. This spiritually informed research addresses the most salient public health issues in our communities. Specific topics of interest include
Acute medical illnesses and the role of spiritually informed care
Basic science around biomarkers and neural correlates of spirituality
Examples of spiritually integrated treatment and evidence-based therapies
The phenomenological relationship between health and spirituality
Considerations regarding spirituality as a dimension of health
Clinical implications of using spirituality therapeutically
Identifying novel spiritually based treatment strategies
Journal of Rural Mental Health General Call for Papers: Ongoing Submissions
The journal publishes peer-reviewed articles on rural mental health research, practice, and policy within the United States and internationally. Focused on issues of special interest to those living and working in rural areas, the journal welcomes research on such topics as barriers to improving or accessing care in rural environments, issues faced by underserved populations, and disparities in mental health care.
The Intergenerational Transmission of Substance Use and Abuse Psychology of Addictive Behaviors
Short Letter of Intent Due: Jan. 1, 2019
Submission Due: June 1, 2019 Psychology of Addictive Behaviors seeks submissions for a special section titled, “The Intergenerational Transmission of Substance Use and Abuse: Understanding Continuities and Discontinuities.”
Submissions are especially encouraged from studies that use prospective intergenerational designs (i.e., assessments across adolescence in two generations) and examine drug use (are not focused solely on alcohol or tobacco).

NAADAC’s Annual Conference will feature a broad array of topics and formats, including five all-day preconference seminars on Oct. 5, daily keynote speakers in plenary sessions, breakout workshops, and events on Oct. 6–8, three all-day postconference seminars on Oct. 9, and a 2-day U.S. Department of Transportation SAP Qualification/Requalification training on Oct. 9–10.
