ASSESSING RESOURCES TO
PREVENT JUVENILE RECIDIVISM
For the Family League of Baltimore, DSG’s 501(c)(3), the Institute for Community Studies (ICS), conducted an assessment of resources available in the city of Baltimore, Md., to prevent subsequent involvement in the juvenile or adult justice system among youths leaving secure juvenile detention and commitment facilities and returning to their communities.
The final report included three major sections. The first section provided background information, including Baltimore city juvenile justice data trends and summaries of recent, relevant reports. The second section presented findings from the landscape analysis, which included survey results, mapping, and interviews. The interview findings offered a unique and in-depth look at the perspectives of program providers, youths, and judicial stakeholders in the city. The final section summarized key findings and recommendations for future action. This assessment was completed in less than 8 months, between November 2019 and June 2020. Deliverables included a final report, an executive summary of the report, and a presentation.
