DSG Studying Far-Right Terrorist Groups for National Institute of Justice

For the National Institute of Justice, DSG is investigating far-right terrorist groups in the United States and constructing an analytical framework that law-enforcement agencies and their partners can use to shape counterterrorism strategies tailored to each group’s tactics and environmental environment. In 2020, DSG began its GTTAC Speaker Series, which bridges this project with its global counterterrorism project for the U.S. Department of State.

DSG and U.S. Department of Justice Celebrate 14 Years of CrimeSolutions

Researchers’ understanding of what works in criminal justice, juvenile justice, and crime victim services continues to evolve. Unfortunately, research doesn’t always find its way to the right audience. For example, policymakers and practitioners may not have access to relevant research. Or when research is available, it may be hard to understand the results and apply those findings to practice. CrimeSolutions was created to help bridge this research-to-practice gap.

DSG Tracking Terrorism Acts Worldwide

In 2018, DSG created the Global Terrorism Trends and Analysis Center (GTTAC) to support its contract with the U.S. Department of State, to develop a database of global terrorism incidents, to prepare the annual Annex of Statistical Information on Terrorism, and to help prepare and edit the congressionally mandated Country Reports on Terrorism each year. In 2020, DSG began its GTTAC Speaker Series, which bridges this project with its domestic project for the National Institute of Justice.

“An education is the very foundation of good citizenship.”
—Chief Justice Earl Warren, 1954

DSG’s Education Practice is devoted to promoting education excellence and equity through rigorous research and evaluation of programs and policies, training and technical assistance to support the implementation of evidence-based curricula, and consultation with school administrators and teachers to improve classroom performance. We stay current on local, state, and national education policy. And we know what works.

DSG Makes Plans to Review MCFJC

For the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), DSG is conducting a formative evaluation and evaluability assessment of the Montgomery County Family Justice Center (MCFJC) in Rockville, Md. MCFJC provides housing, medical attention, counseling, and legal services to survivors of domestic violence. The results of the formative evaluation and evaluability assessment will lead to a blueprint to guide the planning of a rigorous evaluation of the program.

DSG to Evaluate ‘Not in Our Town’ Hate Crime Prevention Model

Development Services Group, Inc., with funding from the National Institute of Justice, is conducting a mixed-methods evaluability study of the Not in Our Town Hate and Bias Teams Model, a program to combat hate crime and hate speach. This promising U.S. Department of Justice–funded program was implemented in Pittsburgh, Pa., after the killing of 11 Jewish worshipers at the Tree of Life Synagogue in that city.
