REVIEWING INDIVIDUAL
STUDIES IN EDUCATION

For the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences (IES), DSG expanded the What Works Clearinghouse to include reviews of postsecondary education studies

PROJECT OVERVIEW

This contract expanded the What Works Clearinghouse into postsecondary education. DSG and its education experts and reviewers were responsible for assessing the evidence of effectiveness available on postsecondary programs, policies, and strategies. We developed seven review protocols and disseminated information on the level of evidence through quick reviews, single study reviews, intervention reports, and practice guides. We conducted nearly systematic reviews; identified, reviewed, and created master review guides for evaluations of programs, practices, and policies in postsecondary education; and summarized eligible study results in WWC products, including 10 intervention reports. We also produced Strategies for Postsecondary Students in Developmental Education: A Practice Guide for College and University Administrators, Advisors, and Faculty, which made specific, evidence-based recommendations to educators working to improve the success of students who are academically underprepared for college.
