JUSTICE

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Expert Panel on Macroeconomic Factors and Individual Violence

DSG established the CDC Expert Panel on Macroeconomic Factors and Individual Violence to oversee and contribute to the production of a set of literature reviews and articles that were published as a book.

 

Youth Violence Prevention

DSG managed the Youth Violence Prevention Training and Technical Assistance project for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), by providing relevant training and technical assistance to the 39 jurisdictions OJJDP funds through its three youth violence prevention initiatives—Defending Childhood, the National Forum on Youth Violence Prevention, and Community-Based Violence Prevention.

Model Programs Guide

An evidence-based repository that contains summaries on programs that meet specific methodological criteria and adhere to a strong theoretical base.

 

CrimeSolutions

A searchable database of evidence-based programs and practices in corrections and reentry, courts, crime and crime prevention, drugs and substance abuse, juvenile justice, law enforcement, and victims and victimization.

INTERNATIONAL

Counterterrorism Database

The U.S. Department of State selected Development Services Group, Inc. (DSG), and its partner, the Terrorism, Transnational Crime and Corruption Center (TraCCC) at George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., to build a counterterrorism annual reporting database, produce an annual Annex of Statistical Information analyzing counterterrorism incidents worldwide, and help the department prepare its annual Country Reports on Terrorism.

 

Evaluation of Bilingual/Bicultural Health Services Demonstration Grants

DSG evaluated a program of more than 60 bilingual/bicultural health services demonstration grants targeting populations with limited English-speaking ability. English-language minorities included speakers of Spanish, Vietnamese, Khmer, Lao, Chinese, Samoan, Tagalog, Wolof, Fulani, Korean, Thai, Cherokee, Choctaw, and other languages.

Flight Attendant Well-Being Study

A nationwide examination of the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001 (9/11), tragedy on 54,000 flight attendants, this web-based study used both qualitative and quantitative methods to gather data on social support systems before and after 9/11.

 

Ethnography of Media and Violence on U.S.–Mexico Border

DSG staff conducted ethnographic research on the United States–Mexico border concerning media and violence issues, specifically regarding popular media portrayals of narcotraffickers and the potential impact of these portrayals on youth violence and other high-risk behaviors.

EDUCATION

What Works Clearinghouse

For the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences (IES), DSG conducts the evidence review and support for the What Works Clearinghouse, an evidence-based repository of educational programs and practices.

 

Office of the Mayor, Washington, DC

Through a contract with the District of Columbia’s Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education and the Interagency Collaboration and Services Integration Commission (ICSIC), DSG conducted an evaluation of five evidence-based programs implemented in D.C. public schools.

Protective Factors Framework for ACYF

For the Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF), DSG developed a protective factors framework and literature review, after reviewing the research on protective factors relevant to the populations they serve.

 

Reviews, Reporting, Dissemination and Development (R2D2)

DSG works with ED’s Institute of Education Sciences to update current WWC products by integrating new studies into the evidence base, to disseminate new products that explain how to use WWC products, and to conduct evidence reviews for grant competitions so that ED can fund projects with evidence of effect.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices

For SAMHSA, DSG conducted the scientific reviews for the evidence assessment for the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP), an evidence-based repository and searchable online database of more than 300 mental health and substance abuse interventions. DSG also managed the expansion and operation of the NREPP Learning Center and the NREPP website.

 

DATA Waiver Processing and Support

For SAMHSA, DSG operates the DATA Waiver Processing and Support contract.

Community Utilization of Evidence-Based Program Registries in Behavioral Health Care

For the National Institutes on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and as a subcontractor to Western Michigan University, DSG is co-leading a three-year study to examine the utilization and impact of Evidence-Based Program Registries (EBPRs) by the public and by the single state and provider sector (nonprofit, for profit, and government operated) across 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.

 

Minority Fellowship Coordinating Center

For the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, DSG established a Coordinating Center for the Minority Fellowship Program (MFP).
